Your Business Safety Is Paramount And Here’s Why

February 14, 2020

Your business can be subject to many issues during its reign. From abuse, to hackers, to communication problems and breakdowns. You need to ensure your business is safe from the main issues that occur digitally as hackers and online attacks are becoming more savvy and new ways are being created to get into your systems which poses a huge threat to any business.

Managing Risk Online And Realising What Could Pose A Threat

It’s important, when you think of cyber security, that is a long and continuous process, because as stated previously, new threats to your business are always on the horizon and the ways to hack are evolving with new technology. Some steps can be implemented but it’s vital that you invest time to plan and consider all the key areas; which include your assets, finances, risks and what can be done to minimise them. Even things such as MAR compliance, staff safety and insurance.  What are the risks to your business? Advice for managing risk is often available from many different sources, including your law firm.

Passwords Must Be Kept Secure At All Times

Passwords are important because they secure your vital and confidential business information and also it seems easy to use the same password across multiple platforms and all your accounts, this is a simple mistake that can create major problems if a hacking should occur.  Change your passwords regularly, a good recommended amount is at least every six months and ensure that you choose different ones for certain spreadsheets and databases and email accounts. How can you make a strong password? Here are five tips to ensure you have a solid and impeccable password to keep the risk at bay:

1. Passwords should contain a minimum of 8 characters that can be symbols and numbers

2. Avoid common passwords such as ‘password’ or that include your name or personal information as this is easier to find than you think.

3. Don’t use a number sequence or any repetitive numbers as this is easy to guess and may be easy to hack also.

4. Think of a phrase or a small sentence rather than a single word, this will ensure that you can create something unique that nobody will think of. It could be something like “I love vanilla coffee!” or “once upon a time in dubai 392”. The more random the better and you can use these simple sentences to add the numbers in such as: “Il0vevani11ac0ffe3” which complicates the phrase with symbols and numbers meaning it will be less easy to crack and solve!

Thinking ahead is key, because keeping a well oiled system in every aspect as well as adhering to all the rules of business is no easy task but it will serve you will in time and prove beneficial with all aspects. Be safe, be vigilant, get the advice you need relating to staff, business, finance and security and ensure you begin to thrive the way you’d always hoped.
