4 Things You MUST Do Before Launching a New Product
February 20, 2020
Launching a new product can be hectic and it can be so easy for things to go wrong if you try to rush things through, especially if you neglect to do these very important things first…
Research Your Target Market
Launching a new product before you’ve researched your target market and gained a real understanding of who they are and what they want will lead you on the path to failure. It might be a bore, but conducting credible and thorough market research is VITAL to the success of your venture.
The kinds of questions you should be asking include:
- How your product should be positioned
- What are the values of your target market
- Where should your product be sold
- Which channels of distribution will offer the most value to your audience
- Which demographics are you appealing to
- How much can your target market afford to pay
- What is th eright tone to market to your audience
If you can answer these questions, you will be in a much better place to plan a successful launch.
Develop Your Product Positioning and Messaging
Proper product messaging and positioning plays a massive role in how your product appears to your target market. Once you have the market research in place to truly know your audience you can use that information to craft a message that will show off your product, it’s best features, and why it would be so valuable to your customers. You can work out where to position your product on the market, which features of the product will be most valuable and what kind of marketing will resonate most. You’ll then need to turn that information into a memorable tagline that makes the customer sit up and pay attention.
Ensure Healthy and Safety is Up to Standard
As an entrepreneur, you’ve probably spent lots of time on health and safety already, whether you’ve had to check your local height safety product requirements during production or you’ve needed to ensure that the materials you’ve used have been licensed in your country. However, if you haven’t extensively tested the end product to ensure that it meets health and safety requirements in all of the locations you will be selling, that is something you simply must do before launch.
If your products aren’t completely safe, they could hurt someone, which would mean an expensive lawsuit and some really bad publicity. Test, test, and test again!
Plan Your Strategy for Product Launch
Launching a product without a strong strategy in place is likely to end in disaster for your life as an entrepreneur. You need to work out each and every step that will bring you closer to success whether that means starting a blog to spread the word, filming a creative viral ad campaign, producing guest posts to spread your message far and wide or launching at a global trade show where millions of people will hear about what you’re doing.
If you do these four things before launch, you’ll be in a much better position to succeed and your next problem will be working out how to keep the momentum going post-launch.
