Networking: The Importance Of Finding The Right Venue

October 19, 2015

For many business owners, organising a conference can be a stressful experience. But I promise you, it doesn't have to be that way.
If you've had any modicum of success, you'll fully understand the importance of networking events already. And given that you're stepping away from the office and into uncharted territory, you better be sure to leave a good impression.
At some point in your career, there will be a time when you need to call upon the contacts you've built. And it isn't who you know; it's how you know them.
Every time you step out into the world of network events, your goal should always be to build solid and sustainable relationships. Otherwise, what was the point in taking time away from the real work?
This is especially true when you're the one hosting the conference. You can bet that every little detail is being scrutinised by its attendees. But with the right planning (and even a little delegating), you'll be able to stop worrying and start focusing on the real task at hand.
So, how do you go about ensuring your conference goes off without a hitch? There are a few things to iron out and you're ready to go.
When it comes to networking events, location is everything. With the right surroundings, you can easily earn the faith of your peers.
Most venues today offer more than just a conference room. That spells good news for you. The less you have to concern yourself with, the more time you can spend forging solid connections. Along with the setting, they'll more than likely supply the staff and refreshments, too. You might even be able to swing a few free rooms if you're working with the hospitality sector. And believe me, there's no better way to earn the gratitude of your travelling networkers.
Of course, there are ways to ease the burden of responsibility from your shoulders even more. Sourcing a reliable conference organising firm could be invaluable to you. Just tell them what you're looking for, and they'll make all the formal arrangements before, during and after. It’s their job to make everything run smoothly, leaving you to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Money well spent, if you ask me.
Another thing to keep in mind is where the attendants are coming from. Have a glance over your list and try to find a common ground that's easily accessible for everyone.
You'll be hard pressed to find any of your guests without their phone in hand. These businesspeople are also taking time away from their schedules to be there, remember. Something as simple as a free WiFi connection at your event could go down a storm.
It's common practice to have a refreshments table at the back of the room. Not only does this afford your guests the opportunity to feed and water themselves, but they also aren't leaving the room for it. This is critical to ensuring nobody misses a single word you have to say. And in business, your word is everything.
