Clearing The Cobwebs From Your Company Website

May 10, 2017

Too many business owners build a website and then never touch it again. This can swiftly lead to a website looking and feeling old and uncared for. Given that a website is essentially your shopfront to the internet, you need to treat it like a shopfront and keep it fresh so that you’re always enticing in new clientele. Here are a few ways that you can maintain your site and keep the digital cobwebs at bay.
Keep your website active
Without regular content, your website can look unused and abandoned, which may lead visitors to think the same of your business. One way to always keep your website fresh is to simply keep adding content to it.
The easiest way to do this is to start a blog on your website. A blog is a series of posts that can be centred around anything your desire. Many businesses will use their blogs to give advice to clients – for example an estate agency might use their sites to give advice to home movers such as taking out a mortgage, packing for the move and making their own house look more attractive.
You can also promote seasonal deals to help your business feel fresh. Write a post on a Christmas deal that you may be offering or alternatively a summer deal.
Integrate with social media
Just as important as a website is social media. When used together, a website and social media can make a deadly marketing combo. You can use Facebook and Twitter to post any new content on your website. Similarly, you can install a plug-in on your website that shows all your social media posts.
If you’re not savvy with the likes of Facebook and Twitter, it may pay to invest in a social media agency to run your pages for you. Make sure that your social media is regularly being updated too and that you build up a following by inviting all your friends, family and past clients to like and follow.
Invest in some SEO
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is a way of increasing your rankings on search engines such as Google. Over time an inactive website can slip down the search engine rankings. You can make little changes yourself to increase your rankings such as adding keywords and getting others to blog about you, but a more effective method may be to pay an SEO company.
Is it time for a makeover?
If you’ve had your website for a while and it hasn’t been touched in that time, the age may be starting to show. Web design have changed dramatically over the last couple decades. Ensure that your website doesn’t look outdated by paying for a personal website review. A professional may be able to tell you what needs changing to your website to make it feel fresher. This especially applies to all those still hanging onto nineties websites.
