How To Build Hype Around Your Business

May 16, 2017

You could have the best business idea in the world. You could build a brilliant website to market your business idea. You might even have an effective marketing strategy to promote your little startup to the right circles. But unless you manage to generate a lot of hype, all your hard work is going to go to waste. You can have the most groundbreaking product or service in history, but without building anticipation in the months leading up to the launch, your business will fall flat, right out of the gate. There needs to be an established audience presence beforehand to achieve this. It is crucial to look at the big picture and how you can build up excitement leading up to the big day.
Pinpoint your target market
Knowing your target audience and their interests can tell you which tools to use to make the biggest impact and what type of media channels your target is most receptive to. Use any of the 27 tools available to entrepreneurs to help you generate videos, emails, and social media content to build up the anticipation surrounding your product or services.
Start a countdown
Countdowns act as a reminder for your audience and they build anticipation. Once you have enough people talking about your product, start a countdown to the launch date within your blog posts, in your website sidebar, on your homepage, or across your social media accounts.
Create a waiting list
Waiting lists are beneficial for you as a business owner because help you gauge consumer interest early on. They also play on many psychological triggers, such as scarcity, that make us want access as soon as possible. To give further incentive to your potential customers, offer a reward for the first 20 or so people to sign up to your waiting list. You might want to change the reward depending on how many people are actively talking about your product, and you want the prize to be something useful, but not too expensive for you.
Hold contests with giveaways
Giveaways don’t just encourage customers to sign up early, they help you build a rapport with your target market while keeping costs relatively low. Make sure the giveaways are unique and meaningful. The prize should something that appeals to the entire target demographic and will drive traffic your website. If you’re worried about spending too much of your own money on giveaways, you could build your own products to give away instead. This gives the rewards a more personal touch, they will be unique and relevant to your business goals, and it might save you more money.
Share sneak peeks and teasers
Film companies know all about building up hype for a movie through the use of trailers and short film clips. You can use the same tactics on social media to build up anticipation for your product. Invite your audience inside your new launch by sharing photos and ‘teasers’ on your blog and social media accounts.
