Time-Saving, Productivity Boosting Hacks for Entrepreneurs

June 27, 2017

Entrepreneurs are a rare breed. They are the kind of people who forgo sleep so that they can give that project a bit more attention they’re the kind of people who want to fill every spare moment with activity to advance them along their path.  Although this is a commendable quality to have in some ways, it is foolish in others because it has been proven time and time again that cramming your schedule so full that you don’t have a minute to yourself actually decreases your productivity!
What all you entrepreneurs out there should actually be doing is employing time-saving hacks to make your day more productive, so that you can actually take some time out to relax. Here are a few such hacks to get you started:
Organize Your Space
It’s amazing just how much difference to your productivity there can be if you simply take the time to organize your desk and sort out your filing cabinets. Instead of it taking you 10 minutes to find that contract, you’ll find it in seconds and all of those saved minutes will add up over the course of the week, giving you much more time to get busy even if you actually work less.
Learn Excel
You might think that as an entrepreneur, your time should be spent inventing new products, meeting with potential clients and doing the kind of groundwork from which successful business grow, but it is worth taking some time to learn Excel with the Seven Institute if only because, once you’ve mastered the art of creating complex spreadsheets, you’ll be able to automate a lot of the dull ‘paperwork’ that gets in the way of your entrepreneurial spirit.
Block Social Media
Social media is to entrepreneurs what garlic is to vampires. Okay, so it won’t actually kill you, but it might just kill your ambitions and stop you from succeeding in your chosen field. Unfortunately, it’s probably going to be impossible for your to give up social media altogether, not least because it’s great for networking and marketing your stuff, but there are lots of great browser apps out there, like Stayfocusd, which will enable you to block them for a while, so that you can get your work done.
Do Away with Meetings
At least, oh I don’t know, 95 percent of all meetings the average entrepreneur attends must be unnecessary. Thanks to the abundance of technology we all have at our fingertips, it has never been easier to communicate quickly and effectively at a distance, and if you are serious about saving time, you should consider doing this instead of scheduling tons of face-to-face meetings which suck time and, for the most part, achieve very little.
Implement the Two Minute Rule
Whenever a piece of work or an email comes in, take a quick look at it and work out whether it will take more or less than two minutes to deal with. If it’s less than two minutes, deal with it immediately, and you will soon find that the mountains of paperwork on your desk are a thing of the past, and you’ll be able to plan the rest of your schedule more efficiently to deal with the rest.
