Nomad Entrepreneurship: The New Frontier In Freedom

October 11, 2018

Entrepreneurs are a freedom-loving bunch. Rarely do they want to control people with regulations and taxes. And almost always, they want to make people’s lives better with some innovative products.
But that’s not to say that being an entrepreneur is all about serving others. It’s also about living the best life possible. For years, that’s meant determining one’s own schedule and rate of pay. Financially, and temporally, entrepreneurs have done well.
Spatially, however, things are still not good. Those at the top of business are often chained to a particular location for the good of their companies.
The nomad entrepreneur is a rare breed and proves that it doesn’t have to be that way. Here’s how to become one.
Invest In Mobile Internet And IT
5G is on the way. And with it, the nomad entrepreneur lifestyle will erupt. But until it does, there are still plenty of tools available to do business on the move right now.
For instance, online backup via the cloud means that you can record your meetings, send documents, pictures, and files.
You can work from wherever you like, picking up from where you left off the day before.
Dongles allow you to connect to the internet via your laptop for serious productivity, no matter where you happen to be.
External hard drives allow you to bring vast quantities of data with you, especially helpful for those involved in creative endeavors.
And finally, theft protection software helps to keep you legally compliant and avoid catastrophic data breaches (if you happen to leave your laptop on the train, for instance).
Get Reliable Transportation
As a nomad entrepreneur, you’ll want to travel all over the place. And that means having your own personal, reliable form of transportation. Ask yourself, where can I find cheap insurance near me? Look out for the best deals. As a business user, you’ll need the cost of transport to be as low and as flexible as possible.
Choose Your Starting Point
Traveling while working is not an easy task. But if you are a true nomad, you’ll want to start somewhere interesting. Think about the types of places you’d like to visit. Cambodia, Chile, Canada, Peru, Madagascar, Nepal. Just remember, you’ll need an internet connection so don’t start somewhere in the middle of the Amazon jungle.
Become Location Independent
If you wanted to be independent and travel in the past, you had to become a traveling salesman. But in the era of portable computing and the ever-present internet, there are plenty of options available to you that might suit your skill set.
For instance, many companies need people who are up to speed with digital media. They want people who can edit videos, photos, websites, and adverts, without having to go to the trouble of setting up those services in-house. As a digital media expert, you can work thousands of miles away, and still be valuable to a wide selection of businesses.
If digital media isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other options. There’s a constant need for writers, graphic designers, tutors – any service that can be delivered over the internet at high quality.
