Business Success Depends On You Leaving Your Comfort Zone
July 26, 2019
As a consequence of their limiting self-beliefs, many entrepreneurs do little to escape their comfort zones.
They don't attend business conferences and meetings because they struggle with confidence when speaking to others.
They don't use new technologies, because they think they lack the ability to do so,
And they don't ask for help in fear that other people will consider them weak and inferior.
Now, for all we know, the same can be true of you.
But to find business success, there are times when you need to leave your comfort zone.
You see, if you want something you have never had before, you have got to do something you have never done before.
With the above examples in mind then, consider how you might escape your comfort zone.
Take the time to attend business conferences
We aren't all blessed with public speaking skills. Many of us do feel inferior to our peers, especially with those who have seemingly made it in the business world. But if we let these issues get in the way of meeting new people, we will never make contact with the people who could help us succeed in business.
You see, by attending a business conference, you might meet a future client or customer. You might learn from people with more experience than you do. And you might make new friends; people you can turn to when you later need help with matters pertaining to either your business or personal life.
So, to help you leave your comfort zone, brush up on your public speaking skills. Take the relevant courses if you can find any near you, or practice with a friend or family member. When you have finally plucked up the courage to attend, go armed with your business cards so you have a way to introduce yourself, and showcase your brand with custom exhibition stand design so people will be drawn to speak you, especially useful if you have found yourself unable to muster up the courage to speak to others.
And try to enjoy yourself. Sure, it can be scary, but once you have found your footing and your voice, you might start to notice the benefits of attending, and you might have more fun than you ever imagined.
Get into the 21st century
Staying in your comfort zone, you might be resistant to new technologies. Sure, you might have a computer, and you might have finally ditched your fax machine, but in all other areas, you might be reliant on older business processes. You feel comfortable in doing so, so why change?
Well, change you must. To improve your productivity and efficiency, you should use the latest software tools to enable you to do so.
To future-proof your business, you need to consider the technologies that today's consumer are or soon will be using.
And to elevate yourself above your business rivals, you need to modernise your business if you have any hope of staying open.
Put in the research then, and if you need to, focus on the next point.
Ask for help
Leaving your comfort zone isn't easy, but you don't have to do it alone. Asking for help does not make you inferior or weak; rather, it shows a strength of character. So, if you need help in any way, be that in how to use new technologies, or how to better manage the tasks you have to do in business, then do so. By asking for help, you will grow in knowledge and attain new skills, and that can only be good news for your business.
And so…
Stay in your comfort zone all you want, but you will never grow as a person or improve your business if you do. By getting out of the office to meet new people, by getting to grips with new innovations in business, and by plucking up the courage to ask for help, you should start to find greater success in business.
So, while we have only given a few comfort zone examples here, think about where you are. What do you need to do to move your business to the next level? What do you need to do to move forward in life and in business? Contemplate on these things, and then move out of your comfort zones for positive changes.
