What To Do While You Are Waiting For Your Podcast To Take Off

August 20, 2019

An eternity. That is what the time in between getting your first podcast episode out and it reaching its full potential can feel like. Of course, there are some pretty vital things that you need to continue to do during this time. In fact, if you do them right, they can expedite the process considerably. Read on to find out what they are.

Keep spreading the word online.

The first is to market your marketing, or in other words, advertise and promote your podcast. After all, you won't reach as many people if they don't know you have content that could be of use to them.

To that end, be sure to include a link on your blog, and embed clips from your podcast wherever possible. Promote your work across social media too, and don't forget to get others to use their accounts to help you do this as well. An action that can really help you reach the maximum amount of listeners possible.

Keep the money coming in.

Too many people think that they will be rolling in advertising and sponsorship money as soon as they record their first podcast. Of course, this is rarely the case. Something that means it's essential, even while you are building your listener base that you also ensure that you have enough money coming in to live off of.

Now, exactly how you do this will be different for each person concerned. With some preferring to take on freelance jobs that allow them to still dedicate the time necessary to the creation of their podcasts. Others go for increased flexibility in work instead, using a firm like A&S Recruitment to find them jobs that pay well for a shorter period. Something that means they can take breaks in between jobs to focus on their creative tasks when the need occurs.

Keep making meaningful network connections.

People matter, no matter what it is you are doing. In fact, when podcasting, knowing the right people can make a world of difference. Not just by making it easier to get your work professionally directed and edited, but also in getting it in front of the right sponsors and advertisers as well.

To that end, while you are waiting for your podcast to take off, it's crucial that you still continue to make meaningful connections for your network. Of course, this entails a little more effort than just adding people on Facebook. Instead, the idea is to truly connect with that person, something you may be able to do by offering them help or advice with an issue or project they value.

Keep your eye on the prize.

Lastly, no matter what you need to key your eye on the end goal. That is propelling your podcast to the highest heights. Yes, of course, all of the other things mentioned here are important, but definitely not to the detriment of the quality of your content.

To that end, be sure to prioritize the working and making of your podcasts above everything else. You should reap your rewards in popularity much sooner if you do.
