3 Things Newly Hired Employees Need From Your Business

October 3, 2019

When hiring a new employee, you will naturally be hoping for a smooth transition. In order to achieve this goal, there are three things that your company needs to provide to your new hire…

#1 – Full instructions

While you will have no doubt provided an overview of responsibilities during the interview process, new employees will always benefit from complete details as to their responsibilities and the things they are expected to do each day. It is usually preferable to provide this information in writing, so they can refer back to it at a later date if need be.

#2 – A “who’s who” guide

There’s a lot to remember when first starting a job, particularly in terms of who does what in the organization. Create a guide for every member of staff, along with photographs and a brief overview of their role and why they may need to be contacted (for example: Susan, accountant, contact for any issues related to payroll). This helps to avoid your new member of staff needing to contact you directly if they experience any issues; instead, they can consult the handbook and deal with the matter themselves.

#3 – Effective training

A new employee’s ability to do their job is highly reliant on effective training. Get this right, and your new hire will be able to slot into your organization, confident that they know everything they need to about their role and how it is performed.  As the infographic below highlights, elearning is a great choice when it comes to employee training, and is therefore an excellent option to explore when you’re next hiring staff for your business.
