Making Your Business More Eco-Friendly

October 8, 2019

We can all make the effort to be greener, and like most businesses nowadays, there should be a conscious effort to take ownership of how green a business is and how it can be more eco-friendly. So here are some tips for making your business more eco-friendly.

Conserve Your Water

Like all energy sources, water provides your staff with drink throughout the day and to use for various daily activities, whether it’s prepping meeting rooms for important meetings or the cleaners using it to wash down communal areas. There’s likely to be a lot of water usage within your company that is being used on a daily basis and at a much larger rate then you’d typically use at home. This can increase substantially if you have showers in your building for staff. To conserve the water, look at water systems and tanks that may be available to make use of rainwater and other systems that can reduce the amount of water you use in general.

Encourage Staff To Go Green

You have a responsibility to your staff to teach them how to more eco-friendly. You can involve them in initiatives that you are running within the organization, and perhaps setting up a green team would be a good idea in terms of keeping the focus on going green within your company. Cycle to work schemes and discounts on using more eco-friendly transport or services can all be offered in a bid to help encourage your staff to do their bit. Not just in the workplace but in their own lives!

Use Greener Suppliers

Depending on your business, there may be a number of suppliers that you use in order to conduct your business. This may be sometimes overlooked, but not all companies are going to be eco-friendly and kind on the environment. So if you can, there may be greener suppliers that you can use and who may use more eco-friendly work processes. From hydraulic briquette press to the packaging that goes onto a product, any supplier you work with should be eco-audited.

Have A Proper Recycling Scheme

When it comes to disposing of your waste, a lot of packaging and materials can end up being thrown in the wrong bin. When you put that into a communal aspect, that’s going to be a lot of potentially recyclable materials going to waste in a general bin. It’s good to have a proper recycling scheme and to liaise with your cleaners to ensure that everything is being disposed of in the right way. Look at the current situation and see what could be changed or brought in to make it more effective. A lot more packaging nowadays is biodegradable as there’s more effort to get rid of plastic packaging in general. Do your bit and make recycling easier for you and your staff members. That way, more people will want to do it.

Making your business eco-friendly is important for future generations and for the existence of your own company should it go onto outlive you.
