Three Things Entrepreneurs Can do to Boost Business
October 16, 2019
The great thing about working for yourself is that everything is done on your terms. You set your hours, you dictate your workload and the tasks that you set for yourself on a daily basis. One of the harder elements of working for yourself is that the sheer volume of expertise and knowledge that you need in order to keep your business afloat.
We’re not just talking about the ability to provide the service or product that you’re offering but the other elements of entrepreneurship including marketing, bookkeeping and sales.
In this blog we’re looking at the three things you need to do when you realise you can’t possibly do everything.
Bring In Help
You might never have considered becoming an employer before but when you have tasks that need daily attention that are drawing you away from the work you should be doing, then maybe it’s time to reconsider that standpoint.
Having one or two employees makes sense when the jobs that need doing are not just ad hoc but rather demand an ongoing focus. That social media campaign or sales contact with customers. It doesn’t make sense if you’re just looking for a one off project, for that you’ll need a:
Consultant
If you’re looking for someone to create a marketing campaign for you or help with bookkeeping services then a one off consultant hire might just be the answer you’re looking for. The alternative is to pay a retainer to keep those services ticking over for when you need them next.
Finding a consultant can take up quite a lot of your precious time so start the process sooner rather than later, making sure you stay on top of your business needs rather than chasing them when you find yourself lagging behind.
Train Up
This might be an option for you if you have a little time in your day to pursue an online course but understanding basic bookkeeping or getting to grips with how to build a comprehensive social media strategy is only going to benefit you in the long run. At the very least you’ll be able to better understand what you’re asking your employees or consultant to do.
Time consuming, yes but consider self-study a worthwhile investment into the long term health of your business. Try and avoid letting any training interfere with your downtime as the combination of launching a business and studying into the night will not help your physical or mental health.
Making a business work is complicated and demands a lot from you. Admitting early on that you need some guidance and help is the best thing you can do to keep your business functioning at full tilt and producing the kind of results you know it’s capable of.
Bring in some staff, train them up to get the best from them and, therefore, the best for your business. Trust in their ability to support you and have a team on your side that makes working a pleasure.
