Some Tips For Your Business

October 22, 2019

In this blog post, we are going to provide you with some useful tips to take your business to the next level.

Getting people to fill in your website’s contact form

Website design experts will build you an excellent website that is there to show off your products and services to potential customers. Having a contact form on the website is an excellent way of easily allowing your customers to get in touch if they have a query; answering quickly can secure a sale.

But sometimes people can be put off from filling in a contact form, and that is a problem which can lead to lost revenue. What are the reasons that a form isn’t completed? The first is that, no matter how good your web design is, the form just has too many fields to be filled in. In a world where people have very little time to stay on one site for too long, a simple contact form is the best option – just a name, email, and message is enough. If there are more fields, a lot of people won’t bother to complete the form at all.

One field that really does put people off is the phone number. There is a worry every time a phone number needs to be included that this will lead to unwanted phone calls. If you as a business owner don’t need the phone number to contact the potential customer, then don’t ask for it – you’ll find your form is completed much more often. Website design may include a standard contact form, and the button that needs to be clicked to send the form often says ‘submit’. Considering changing this to something else such as ‘send’, ‘go’, or anything fun, and more people will want to click on it.

Set up an effective phone system

You also need to make sure you set up a good phone system for your business. This is imperative in terms of running your business efficiently and ensuring your customers receive the level of service they expect and deserve. You should read this on how to set up a business phone number for some further advice. You need to make sure your phone number is easy to remember and that potential customers can get through quickly.

Measure your efforts

One of the biggest mistakes that people make today is failing to measure their efforts. Whether it is your online presence or your lead generation tactics, you need to measure the efforts you are putting in to make sure your resources are being used effectively. You will be able to continue tweaking and making changes so that you can improve. You will know what is working and what is not.

Use advisory services

There are many companies and organisations in the UK that offer a small business advice service. But how do you know which of the many options available to you provides a world-class comprehensive service? Are the support, tips, and advice they offer current and relevant to your business needs?

You need to consider the format of your chosen advice service. Do you prefer wading through newspaper business pages, books, magazines or brochures or is a searchable online service the best option for your business? Which makes the most efficient use of your time? Make sure the service you choose is aimed at SMEs and not solely at big companies and that it is not simply a platform advertising some scheme or other. In other words, check that it brings you the most relevant information and latest SME news. That's hopefully the content sorted, but what about the presentation?

Do you avoid business information about for example investment, loans or management because they are presented in long, complex or jargon-ridden prose? Information services that present their advice and tips in plain English and convenient bite-sized pieces such as videos, articles, and interviews with the top people in their fields are popular with SME owners, leaders, and management. Their small business advice should be aimed squarely at helping you maintain and grow your business. It should cover salient topics like recruiting staff, harnessing creativity, finance, innovation and technology and be supported by government ministers, business organisations and trade councils.
