Achieving Balance In Your Business

November 25, 2015

Your business is your passion. You’ve worked night and day to bring it to fruition. And when you were not working on it you were worrying about some aspect of it. You have a nagging idea that the worrying did not help, but you pushed on through.
You worked crazy hours, many of them because you had to pay the bills and then find time for the start up. You sacrificed breaks, then meals. You started early the morning and worked until late at night. Work now sleep later was your motto. Maybe you sacrificed your friends, a weekend away that would have been wasted down on the beach. Maybe you let your relationship slide, or missed out on a Dad moment that you will never get back and so on it goes.

Balance is the only lesson.
You might think you’ve been doing a fair bit of it.  But you are wrong. You have been juggling and that is not the same thing at all. Real balance allows you to take a step back. This gives you something you cannot see when you are right up close. Perspective. The ability to see the real picture, the whole picture. That is the one in which your business start up plays a very small part. It maybe that you can’t see this now, but many entrepreneurs who have gone before you have learned the hard way. They will tell you, perspective is everything.
Perspective gives you empathy. Not sympathy, but a real understanding of how other people fit in and around you.  These are not just your family, friend or partners. They are your neighbours, your co workers, your fellow citizens and in fact, they are your customers. While you've been shredding your brain cells trying to get this or that to fit or work, they have been waiting for you. To relax come to your senses and really see the world around you.
Perspective, empathy and balance all come from stepping back. You cannot do everything alone.  And you are not on your own. You are a part of a complicated system. Understanding that means that you can leave some tasks to others and take a step back. Netstar can give you IT solutions that you did not even think were possible. Think laterally and take a look.
It means too that you can focus on your strengths and contribution, on building the core of your business. There are other people who can carry some weight. There are other people who can help you, but only if you see the full picture. Only if you get balance back into your life and business.
Take a Deep Breath
Everything has its time, is of its time and place. If you feel like you have been running up that hill or banging your head against a brick wall stop and look around. Take a few days off reconnect with the flowers and with your friends, Have a laugh, go to the movies, head for the forest or the mountains. It is all there.
You can’t hurry it, there is no need. You can do this, you will succeed – just let some others carry the weight once in a while and have your success, not just at any price.
