How to Boost the Cybersecurity of a Startup

March 15, 2019

We all know that cybersecurity is important but, as a small business owner, how much have you actually invested in it?
To businesses that are short on cash or just looking to save as much as possible, it may seem strange to invest in something that will hardly bring you much more profit at the end of the year – but, luckily, you don’t have to spend too much money.
Here is a handful of ways to boost the cybersecurity of your small business or startup without having to spend a fortune. It’s all about finding the right solutions, after all, and sticking to a rigid cybersecurity routine.
Training your team for cybersecurity
Your team are the first ones who might discover a cyber attack and they should also be the first ones you train when attempting to defend it.
It’s a good idea to start by creating a pamphlet that you can hand around in the office in order to make the importance of cyber safety sink in properly. It only takes your employees a minute, really, to put your entire company at risk with the simple click on a harmful link.
First, train your team on spotting attempts of phishing. These are the most common and low-key ways of obtaining your information, which they can use to puzzle up a comprehensive picture of all your business details.
They might seem innocent enough; a random question from a seemingly innocent account – but they’re far from it. Start by keeping a seminar on identifying these attempts and hire a professional to preach good cyber habits.
Use the right kind of software
Besides regular training by cybersecurity professionals, you can do a lot more in terms of safeguarding your startup. The software you use will, unfortunately, cost a bit of money but it’s definitely worth it when it comes to defending your startup – and, when you find the right kind of software, it won’t even have to cost too much as you only need a few.
You can start by having a look at blockchain companies asx for some more details, by the way, and to learn a bit more about how you can keep your details safe online.
Remember to talk to your employees in case they tend to bring their laptops home with them after work, and go through the basics such as changing their passwords every now and then, disabling cookies, and always staying alert when it comes to strange-looking emails.
The better you are at teaching them the cybersecurity ropes, the better they will be at defending your business too, in the end.
