Company Tweaks For Eco-Friendly Conscious Entrepreneurs

March 28, 2018

Being mindful of the environment is a big deal in the world of business these days. We all know the various ways that we can look after and care for the environment in our day-to-day lives, and it’s also important that we bring some of these practices into our business as well. You will find that there are lots of clients out there who are conscious of their own carbon footprint and, as a result, will only want to deal with other businesses who also have a similar eco-friendly mindset. So, if you aren’t as green as you could be, some potential clients could instead give their projects and contracts to your competitors.
Think it’s time you made your company a lot more eco-friendly? Here are some tweaks that all environmentally minded entrepreneurs need to make.
Educate Employees
Even if you are using eco-friendly practices and methods, your company might not be as green as you would like if your employees aren’t following suit. So, you should try and educate all of your workers and explain the many benefits of them being as environmentally friendly as possible while they are at work. For instance, you might want to introduce an incentive scheme that encourages them to leave their cars at home and instead do their daily commute on bikes or use public transport.
Switch Your Lights
Did you know that traditional fluorescent light bulbs use a lot of energy? They really aren’t the most efficient method of lighting that you could be using right now. Not only do they use a lot of energy, but they also end up being very expensive to run. You’d be much better off switching to a LED light panel and LED light bulbs. These use a lot less energy, last for much longer, and will help to reduce your electricity bills!
Use Green Suppliers
I’ve already mentioned that most clients want to now start working with green suppliers. This should also be the case for you as well. It’s a good idea to go through your current list of suppliers and find out about their business practices and eco-friendly policies. If there is a company on your list who you realize is being quite reckless in how they produce their products, then you might want to switch to a greener supplier whose production methods are more in line with your own high standards.
Minimize Business Travel
Constant travel is going to have a negative impact on the environment and will increase your carbon footprint. So, try and keep your business travel to an absolute minimum. Thanks to lots of great online tools, it is now ever so easy to catch up with your clients without going to see them in person. For instance, you can chat face-to-face using apps such as Skype. There are also some really great pieces of conference call tech that makes it feel like you are in the same room while chatting over the phone.
Make sure you aren’t left behind in today’s eco-minded business world!
