Creating An Inviting Space For Your Clients
May 23, 2019
Effort certainly goes a long way when it comes to your clients as a business. Getting them through your door is one thing, but it’s another to create a welcoming and inviting space that your customers will love and therefore want to come back. Whether it’s a restaurant, a salon or gift shop, here’s how to create an inviting space for your clients.
Give Attention Immediately
The first thing when you step into a busy shop floor or store, you can either get greeted straight away or ignored for a good few minutes. This first impression does sit with your customers and can have an overall sway on their whole experience. Clients like attention, and if they’re parting ways with their money, they want to be treated in a manner that’s warm and welcoming. So no matter what business establishment it is, there should always be someone at the door who’s ready to say hello. Whether it’s a host that remains at a stand to greet and assign them to a table, a security guard who opens the door in a corporate reception or a sound that’s made whenever someone comes in. This notification of attention is going to set you off to a good start.
It’s good to train your staff members well in how to interact with clients and how best to do so. Depending on your clientele, that might be a very formal greeting or one that’s very relaxed. When all staff members behave in the same way, it shows unity and loyal customers will come back expecting that same treatment from every employee they meet.
Think About The Style
Style ties closely into the branding of your business because you want to reflect the personality and style of your brand into the space. Try to incorporate the same colors that feature across your brand, and when it comes to the interior, providing the right furnishings are important. For a creative company, you’ll want lots of color on the walls whether that’s paint or art. With more corporate establishments, you might want a minimal feel with more neutral colors and more subdued decor. Whenever we’re someplace new, we take in our surroundings, and it can leave a certain impression, which could be good or bad.
Take advantage of your space and what features can be elevated. If you have the money, maybe invest in a medical clinic fitout to cater for your space. Do you have big windows in your office? Well, that’s an opportunity to bring in lots of natural light. Perhaps you have industrial style ceilings that you can upgrade to give a more appealing look. The creativity of a business should certainly stretch to the style of your interior and how you present it to your clients.
Focus On Your Curb Appeal
Just like it’s important to think about the interior, you should also think about your curb appeal. It’s the front entrance of your building, and you may be lucky to be in a beautiful area or you could be up a side street next door to a pub. Sometimes you can’t help your position, but you can transform this front into something that’s appealing and catches the eye of your customers as they walk up to the door. If you have signage, think about how you could place it in the windows or outside to attract attention. Strategically place your best products on the front if you’re a shop owner as you want to use that magnetic pull of intrigue to get your customers to gravitate over to your shop front.
Use The Senses
Our senses are something we rely on. To taste, touch, hear, feel and smell things we come into contact with on a daily basis. If you’ve ever walked past a LUSH store, or even M&M world, they’ve got those typical scents being pumped out onto the street, and it’s interesting to see just how many more people will head on in after smelling the scent. So incorporate the senses when creating an inviting space. Consider a signature scent that you can have throughout the place so that it becomes a familiar and comforting feeling every time a customer comes back. Music is also a great way of creating a certain atmosphere. Something pop and contemporary for retail stores or maybe jazz music while guests wait to check into your hotel. These two senses can make a big impact on the way your clients feel about your space.
Get Creative
With physical stores and food establishments falling victim to the presence of the online world, you have to get creative with your space so that customers want to visit your business again. Experiment and brainstorm ways that offer your customers something unique and unlike anything that they could get by going online or ordering food to their home. The more effort you put into it will clearly show anyone who walks in that the company is passionate about leaving a lasting impression. It’s all about creating an experience that won’t be forgotten about. More importantly, you want them to spread the word to their friends, family, and colleagues.
As a business, your space is something not to be ignored. If you don’t present the best version of your company in your physical form then it doesn’t really speak volumes to how you conduct your business as a whole. So moving forward, get creative with your space so that you can pull your clients or customers in through intrigue and excitement. Play with the senses because you can very much take advantage of it. Focus on curb appeal, as well as how you decorate the inside and finally train your staff well. Encourage them to be attentive, from the moment they enter to the moment they leave. Every bit of it counts in creating that inviting space that they’ll want to come back to. No matter what your business is, this matters in order to create loyal customers.
