In other words, make sure that you’re not neglecting the importance of an online business directory. If your store isn’t showing up on Google Maps, then you’re doing something wrong and you need to correct that as soon as possible. Make sure you list your business in as many online directories and websites as possible. For instance, if you operate a restaurant, then make sure you’re on TripAdvisor in addition to Google maps.
 
Nothing says “look at me” like a huge sign
You can’t physically turn heads if you aren’t worth looking at. If your store doesn’t have a huge neon sign to attract customers, then you won’t attract customers. Of course, neon signs can be a little tacky and they aren’t suitable for every type of business, which is why you can look at illuminated business signs instead. Signs are serious business and if you aren’t picking the correct sign for your premises, you’re going to be losing a lot of potential customers.
If you’re in an area with a lot of foot traffic, then it pays to have eye-catching signs to distract potential customers and lure them into your store. Your turn doesn’t have to be parallel to your storefront either. It could be a sign that sticks out of the side, it could be a sign that you set up on the pavement so people can see what the specials of the day are or what products are on sale. In short, if you want to get physically noticed, then you need to give people something to look at.
 
Show off your goods if you want them to sell
Whether you operate a toy store or an Asian restaurant, you need to show off the best parts of your business. Having a beautiful and large display window that shows off all your items is a fantastic way to draw in crowds of people. Display your most expensive items, your most popular products, and place large signs that show them off.
If you operate a restaurant, remember to have a menu outside that isn’t covering the windows. The clearer the display, the more likely people will peer into see what people are eating, what they’re drinking, and how much fun they’re having. Instead, have your menu on a display stand outside so that people can see what you’re selling and what your prices are.
Provide a wonderful service to draw people in
If you want people to come into your store, then it’s time to use some traditional methods and brush up your customer service skills. For instance, rolling out a beautiful welcome mat is a fantastic way to treat your customers like royalty. As they come in (or even if they approach your store) have your store attendant smile and act courteously towards potential customers. The more approachable your business is, the more likely people will stroll in regardless of if they want to buy something or not.
When they are in your store, it’s a good idea to practice treating them like royals. Make sure you help them with everything you can, don’t be rude to them, and assist them with any purchase they are thinking about. However, it’s a bad idea to push a sale onto them. Make sure you’re not being too overbearing when you suggest products or give them advice, and let them decide what they want.
