How Can Hotels Recover From COVID-19?

August 28, 2020

There is no denying that the recent coronavirus pandemic has had a massive impact on businesses across the United Kingdom, and in all industries. However, there have been some sectors that have been hit harder than others, and the hospitality industry certainly falls into this category. After all, most hotels have been shut for months, and many people are cancelling bookings because events have been cancelled and they are nervous about going away. How can you overcome this and start filling up your hotel again? Let’s take a look at some different ideas and suggestions that can help hotels recover from COVID-19.

Offer more value to your customers – The first thing you need to do is look at different ways that you can add more value to your customers. People are going to be more cautious about spending their money because of the impact of COVID-19. However, this does not mean that people aren’t spending. We have seen packed restaurants as a consequence of the Government’s Eat Out scheme. Therefore, if you are able to deliver greater value to your customers and make them feel like they are getting more for their money, you should see your bookings go up.

Make your customers feel safe – A lot of people are now very conscious about health matters because of the coronavirus pandemic. We are sure you have always prioritised hygiene in your establishment, yet you need to go further and you need your customers to be made aware of this. There are guidelines in place to help businesses know what provisions need to be taken in light of the virus. However, you also need to ensure that your customers are aware of all of the efforts you are making to reduce the risk of the virus being transmitted. You can send this to all of your customers in an email newsletter so that they are aware. You should also compare hotel insurance policies and prices to ensure you are fully covered.

Focus on marketing – last but not least, marketing is no important than it ever has been. This is the perfect opportunity for you to think about your brand and how people perceive it. You should spend some time and effort engaging with your customers across social media. Your customer relationships are more critical now than they ever have been. Make sure you reply to reviews – good and bad – in a personal manner so you boost loyalty.

So there you have it: some of the different steps that you can take to try and recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. There is no denying that times have been hard over the past few months and that there are certainly challenging times ahead as well. However, you can recover and it is imperative to be proactive to ensure that this is the case. We hope that the suggestions that have been provided above will help you to get your hotel business back on track.
