How Promotional Giveaways Can Help Your Business

September 12, 2019

Promotional giveaways are a great way to promote your business. Not only are they an inexpensive way to market your company, but they can work for months or even years after the initial promotion. If you are not using them as a marketing tool yet, read on to find out how promotional giveaways can help your business.

Increased Brand Recognition

Giving away branded products is an extremely effective way to get your business noticed. However, don’t rush into buying products until you have thought about which ones give the most exposure, and which are the most popular with customers. In a recent survey by the British Promotional Merchandise Association, the most popular items with customers were listed as USB drives, pens, mugs and electrical items. Cost-Effective Marketing

Depending on how much your giveaways cost you, the return on your investment can be astonishing. For example, while pens are cheap and definitely worth giving away en masse, they don’t tend to last very long. However, a mug or a baseball cap can last years. Imagine how many eyes will see your brand on something like that. According to one recent survey by BPMA, 66% of participants claimed that they could recall the name of the company on a branded product they had received within the previous 12 months. The ROI on investment recorded by businesses using branded products was better than far more expensive radio and outdoor investment, and equal to that of TV and print. That perhaps isn’t surprising given that 87% of participants reported keeping their promotional products longer than one year.

Giveaways Increase Loyalty

Everybody loves giveaways, and while you may see it as a savvy investment, the people who receive your giveaway more often than not simply see it as a gift – and gifts build loyalty. After finding new customers, the hardest thing to do is keep them. Promotional giveaways not only help you find new customers but they are excellent for retaining existing ones.

Better Than a Business Card

The problem with business cards is that a business card will invariably just end up in a pile of all the other business cards, or lost at the bottom of a handbag or laptop case. Why? Because it has no purpose other than the transfer of information, which in itself can be done in so many other ways nowadays. But a promotional giveaway is treated differently, as the best ones are useful, and valuable in some way, and serve a purpose for the customer. A good promotional giveaway will be kept safe and used, and handily, just so happens to also contain the brand logo and contact details of a company they might want to remember in the future.

Wrapping Everything Up

Nearly 80% of all businesses now use some type of promotional giveaway to help with marketing. If yours is one of the 20% which doesn’t yet, or if you have done giveaways in the past but never realized what a good return on investment they are, then take a look again at some of the ways you could be utilizing them in your marketing strategy. It may well be the best marketing decision you make this year.
