How To Blog Successfully
October 19, 2017
Blogging is such a great world to get into. There’s so many supportive communities, and if you work hard enough at it, you can earn a lot of money. If you’re choosing to purely do it for personal purposes, then the points in this article won’t matter for you. This article is going to focus on those of you who are looking to make it into a business. There are two ways of doing this, and everyone has to follow the same steps no matter which way they choose.
Personal
Like with any blog, you need to come with a name that you’ll be happy with forever. Once you pick that name and build essentially a brand, you can’t erase it as starting from the bottom again will be too hard. Straight from the beginning you’re building a brand just like any other business. Start by picking a really good interactive theme. WordPress offer a wide range of free themes, but if you can afford it, it’s best to purchase one. They’re available from around $30-$100. Then play around with the style and colours a bit until you have the perfect theme for you. You also need to figure out what categories you’d like to put in. Think about your favourite topics, or what you do most in life. For example, you might love going to restaurants, or home baking, so a food category is perfect for you. From the beginning you’ll need to set up your social media accounts. They’re the main part of blogging is networking your articles to push traffic towards your blog. Twitter and Facebook are the main two areas you need to work on. Follow other bloggers you like the look of, and interact with them during blogger chats. Comment on the other bloggers posts that you genuinely like. Read them and get to know them. Making yourself seen and heard is so important. Always try and take part in blogger chats. Then all you have to do is write the content, share it to social media and you’re away!
Networking
Networking is much more like a business compared to personal blogging. There’s so much more management and tracking involved, and you’d only be setting it up purely for money purposes. You’ll need to follow all the steps for personal, but on a much bigger scale. It might be worth getting software such as office, so you can then get an office 365 email. You can then have a professional email set up ready to contact companies for blog placements. You’ll then be able to utilise other areas such as spreadsheets to track all your sites and passwords. You’ll still need to create social media accounts, but won’t have to be as active in them. Your main goal is to build your DA through guest posts, and outreach to companies who want to put content on your blog. It’s a huge money earner if done correctly. You may need to do a few personal posts to get it going, but not nearly as many as you would with personal blogging.
