How You Can Reduce Your Businesses Ecological Footprint 2020

March 23, 2020

If there’s something we as individuals and especially business owners should do, it’s look for ways to reduce our impact on the environment. Most people believe that they won’t make too much of a difference by changing the way they do business, so don’t bother. This, however, couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many things you could do to reduce your businesses ecological footprint in 2020, and taking baby steps towards them will help you to save money, build a better reputation, and become a more desirable business to work with. Not to mention the most important thing: help the planet!

Let’s take a look at how you can reduce your businesses ecological footprint in 2020:

Use Recycled Materials

Start using recycled materials for your product packaging and products in general. People are all over eco friendly businesses in 2020, and they love being able to say that they are supporting businesses that use recycled materials. If you’re a clothing company, could you make the clothes out of recycled plastics? This is a popular option that many clothing companies are opting to do.

Reduce Your Emissions

Think of the emissions that your business creates and then find creative ways to reduce them. For example, when it comes to road travel, do you have an incentive for employees to travel together? This could greatly reduce Co2 emissions. Could you cut down on unnecessary emissions by having Skype meetings, and allowing flexible shifts where employees can work from home if they need to? All of these things reduce emissions. Consider the same thing when it comes to air travel. Do you really need to fly to that city for your business trip? Get a train or a better eco option instead.

Use Natural Lighting

Natural lighting rather than artificial lighting has so many benefits. It’s great for perking up office workers and giving them a boost, especially since artificial lighting can have the opposite effect on workers. Not only that, you should save energy by reducing the amount of artificial light you use in the workplace.

Find Businesses To Work With That Have Similar Interests

Working with businesses that want to achieve the same thing you do can go a long way. Partner up and come up with campaigns together so you can share one another’s client base. If you need to work with an independent power producer, for example, you could make sure that they are also working on ways to reduce their impact. By finding ways to partner up with all kinds of businesses that want the same as you, you make an even bigger ecological impact.

Work One Day Less Per Week

Working 4 days instead of 5 days has a domino effect. Less people travel into work, energy is saved, and people even get one more day to recuperate. You’ll often find that they get more done in the days that they do work, too!

Reduce, Reuse, And Recycle Finally, reduce, reuse, and recycle anything you can. Cut right back on printing, and only used recycled paper, for instance. Make sure everybody in the workplace is on the same page and it shouldn’t be a problem!
