Could An Inspiration Board Take Your Enterprise Into The Future?
July 9, 2018
When it comes to starting a business, success depends on your ability to envision the future. You need to focus on where your business model could be, rather than where it is now. You need to picture the goals you want to achieve and go after them like a dog with a bone. And, you need to be persistent. Otherwise, don’t be surprised if your big dreams turn to failure.
But, forward-thinking probably isn’t an issue for you. People without vision for the future are unlikely to even try breaking into business. If you’ve got to this stage, there’s a chance you’re used to ignoring present problems and reaching to the future.
But, we’re going to let you in on a secret; even the most determined entrepreneurs stumble. It may be that you fall, and have no choice but to stop looking at that end goal. If that happens, it’s easy to lose sight of what you want to do among the mess of what you’re doing. And, there’s no way around it; many startup entrepreneurs make a real mess. The only way they get through is by powering on regardless.
Of course, that’s easier said than done when you do start doubting yourself. Once those bad thoughts sneak in, everything can start to crumble. If only there were some visual way to get yourself back on track. Well, it’s funny you should mention it. There is, as it happens, a little something called an inspiration board.
Much like a mood board, this is a visual representation of what you would like your company to achieve. Far from fluffy images and color schemes, this could be the best thing to keep you on track. At least, it will if you include the following.
Ideal commercial spaces
A commercial space often feels like the most pressing business need. Once you have a physical basis for your business, it can feel like you’ve finally arrived. But, in those early days, this can seem like the most impossible goal of all. In fact, it may sometimes seem like something you never stand to reach. In truth, though, success here requires nothing more than hard work. The moment you start to see significant profits, you’ll be in a position to rent an office space, if not to buy one. To keep your eye on that ball, include dream offices on your inspiration board. Look at what’s on the market and keep images of properties which suit your needs. Check out decor schemes and even plants you might want to include. Then, you can return to this each time you feel the goal is slipping through your fingers. Reminding yourself how amazing your office stands to be is sure to give you a good push in the right direction.
Potential product improvements
Your product is the thing which propels your company. So, you might also want to include this on your board. When you start out, there’s every chance you have big ideas, but no funding to see them to reality. Stick them on the inspiration board so that you can keep them in mind and forever work towards those goals. It might be that you want to alter your product but can’t do it without machinery. Or, perhaps you’d like to offer more colors or additions like apps and accessories. Whatever it is, stick a pictorial representation on your board. It may be that you incorporate squares of chosen colors, or even write keywords on there. If machinery is your goal, find pictures of the pieces you would need. As well as ensuring you don’t forget, this is sure to keep you inspired. What better reason to keep fighting for your product?
Massive marketing campaigns
Though marketing is essential when starting out, it’s unlikely you have a massive budget for this right now. In that instance, it’s easy to lose heart and forget the potential campaigns you could embark on down the line. But, you should know what we’re going to say by now; stick it on your inspiration board. If you want a billboard campaign in the future, print examples to keep the idea in your mind. Sketch potential pictures, and work on building catchy slogans. If you want television adverts down the line, jot down idea sketches for those and include them here. Whatever your desires; storing them in this way ensures you don’t forget those big dreams. And, that could be all it takes to make sure that you achieve them.
