Is Your Tech Working for or Against You?
September 9, 2019
One of the biggest mistakes that a lot of SMEs and startups make is that they’re simply not using their technology properly. Most people would assume that if you know how to use a computer, you’re doing it “correctly”. Sadly, the reality is that most people aren’t making effective or efficient use of their time when it comes to technologies such as computers, so in this article, we’re going to explain a couple of ways that you can optimise your business through the use of tech.
Do you have a tech consultant?
It doesn’t really need to be a professional-grade consultant if you’re just a small startup or SME. It could just be a member of staff that knows a thing or two about computers, hardware and general software use. As long as you have someone tech-savvy to point out inefficiencies, even if they don’t know how to remedy it, it’ll show that there are ways to improve your work process.
Are you overspending on tech?
Another common problem is that people often spend far too much on technology, especially when they don’t have a consultant or even just a savvy tech person to help them make decisions. This leads to overspending on expensive or low-powered computers that don’t make your workflow more efficient and it could lead to more problems down the line.
How well do you know the basics?
It’s also important to educate yourself and your staff on some basic computing practices. As an example, we’ve included an infographic below that will help you understand the basics of formatting your spreadsheets for maximum usability.
