Knowing When You're Qualified To Go In For The Kill

July 24, 2018

Personality traits always have to take a backseat to your skills and qualifications. At least they have to on paper. That’s why job interviews done face-to-face still exist and in the world of business, will always exist. Words written down on a piece of paper don’t make who you. Only you can show someone your personality and what you possess mentally to transcend your resume. What you did at university shouldn’t really matter too much unless you’re applying for an academic role. It's what you do after further education is what matters. It's your guts, brains and the ability to adapt to any new environment is what employers are looking for. Merging your ambitions, ability to be self-assured and qualifications is a cocktail of three that could propel you to the heights of your career. Most people have just two of those things but if you can work on knowing when to go in for the kill, you could skip past months of waiting and get the job you actually want.
Report stage larger role
Businesses often order reports from senior staff and their next in line subordinate to help directly. A good way to earn the favor of the upper management is to play a key role and not just be a helper. If you have areas of experience in some key parts of the business, you should put yourself forward in a more leading capacity. Offer to take charge of a specific section of the report and use persuasive language to reassure your senior. They will be responsible for it all in the end so offer to keep them posted and allow them to get a progress report from you at any time they wish. Upper management and the executives will be studying and gauging reports for the future success of the business. So when you can provide them with your own analysis, you’re giving them a lesson and also enlightening them on the options they have. They may ask you to come in and talk or simply be part of the presentation to explain what your thinking was when you were writing up the reports. Use this chance to shine and be noticed!
Putting into practice
No one wants to be school forever, you want to put into practice what you know and what you have learned. A truck license test and assessment that can be done in 1 day is by no means an easy feat. however if you have done all the theory revision, and you have driven similarly sized and or heavy vehicles that are just below or inside the heavy rig class, you can make it through this test. It's putting into practice what you already know and having the confidence to believe in yourself. This is what going in for the kill is all about. Rather than wait weeks and weeks, you have an opportunity to jump ahead of the line and be recognized for a better paying and more fulfilling job.
Undoubtedly for the most part of our professional lives, we take it slow and steady. We know that some opportunities pose more risks than rewards. But we must always have the ability to pounce on a chance to further our careers.
