The Tumbleweed Problem for Startups

February 2, 2018

When you start your new company, you have dreams of conquering Silicon Valley and becoming a force to be reckoned with in your industry. But the reality of running a startup can be a whole lot different to the global domination plans you had in your head when first launching.
With the sheer number of startups and innovative companies around today, it takes a lot more than just an excellent idea to get noticed. If you want to avoid the risk of failure like so many similar companies before you, it is essential that you discover solutions to all of your marketing needs.
NOWHERE TO BE FOUND
The markets have become so oversaturated that it is a battle for any new company to get noticed above the tide of similarity. When searching for a service, potential customers will inevitably head over to Google to find what they need.
To achieve more substantial recognition, investing in and utilising Google advertising can have enormous effects on spreading awareness. Furthermore, you will be better positioned on search results and over time become the first point of contact for consumers looking to pay for your services.
SOCIAL CONTACT
However, you cannot merely rely on these customers to come to you. If you want to spread awareness for your brand as far as possible, then engaging with customers through social media can help build your reputation and grant you more widespread publicity.
This has been evident with the social media antics of companies such as Wendy’s who have become notorious for having an active social media presence. While you don’t need to follow similar tactics, being available for anything and everything that might be queried towards your company will help build customer loyalty and allow people to believe that you are a business they can rely on.
LOST IN THE CROWD
There are so many companies around now that do a lot of similar things, and as such, it can be a challenge to distinguish one from the other. Sometimes, these companies even have the same or similar names and provide the same service.
For this reason, it is essential that you can stand out from the crowd. If your business idea seems to be just a little bit too similar to an already established company, then you need to either do it better (unlikely as a startup, but not impossible) or focus your attention on gaps in the market. By appealing to a consumer base that has so far been neglected, you will be able to get your foot in the door and gain further recognition.
BLOSSOMING
There will be times during your company’s life that the tumbleweed seems to have taken up a permanent residence in your workplace. It is vital that you do everything you can to persevere and search for solutions to solve these problems.
Things won’t change overnight, but putting in the effort to change what you can and improve awareness about your business will pay great dividends sooner rather than later. Taking advantage of the many, many opportunities that innovations can provide you will prove to be one of the best decisions you have ever made for increasing growth in your entrepreneurial efforts.
