Why You Should Start Your Own Business Straight Out of School

January 27, 2020

It’s thought that over 60% of millennial hope to one day start their own business. It’s something that more of us are doing or hoping to do in the future. These small businesses are an important part of the economy. They offer consumers something different. They can become a vital part of communities and boost the employment of a local area. They give their owners something to be proud of, a legacy to leave behind and a chance to create something wonderful. As well as a unique opportunity to work flexibly, around their lifestyle and family.

It’s easy to see the advantages of starting a business and easy to understand why so many people are so keen to do it. But, most of these people have to go through a lot to get there. They might have years working in unsatisfying jobs for managers that they hate. They might have to give up any hopes of a work-life balance and just do their best to get through until they can one day go it alone. But why? Why do you have to wait? If you’ve got an idea, and a way to secure any startup capital that you might need, why can’t you simply get started straight out of school, without ever having to make the best of it in a job that you hate? Here are some of the reasons why you should start a business as soon as you leave school.

You Are More Likely to Do It

We put things off. Life gets in the way. We gain new responsibilities, and we’re no longer able to take risks. Do it as soon as you leave school, and you’ve got no reason not to

You Haven’t Picked Up Bad Habits

When we start a new job, we try our very best to do everything right. We play by the rulebook. Then, over the years, we begin to break those rules. We grow complacent and become keen to save time. We cut corners, and we pick up bad habits. As an employee that might not matter, but for a business owner, it can be disastrous. Start now, before bad habits set in.

Your Knowledge is Up to Date

If you’ve just graduated, your knowledge of your industry will be totally up to date. You’ll know about the latest methods and technology. You’ll have experience using the most effective tools currently on the market, like legal case management software, and you’ll have plenty of learning to back up your ideas.

Even if you are moving into a different field, or haven’t graduated with a degree, when we’re young, we learn. We pick things up quickly because the world is yet to move away from us. But this happens quickly — people in their 30’s struggle to understand what their children are doing online. If you want to start a business, do it ASAP, while the knowledge is fresh and you are keen to learn.

You Are Filled with Enthusiasm

Fresh out of school, we’re full of enthusiasm and passion. We’ve got dreams, and we’re eager to succeed. Start a business now, and you’ll go into it like a steam train. Not a jaded old engine that’s fallen out of love with their field.
